Two students drowned in Parvati river, Kullu
Two students, Dharmender and Ghanshyam, both 18 years old, drowned in the Parvati River in Kullu on Friday. They were from Mandi and were studying at ITI, Thalot. The students had come to the area for training at the Bihali Power Project. They went swimming in the river, which had high water levels, and were feared to have drowned. Their bodies were recovered from the river in the morning. The incident raised concerns in the local government. BJP leader Jai Ram Thakur spoke in the House, urging the government to take action. He noted that as summer approaches, many tourists and local youth are drawn to the water and that dangerous areas should be identified. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri mentioned a similar incident where two students drowned in Una district earlier in the week. He assured that the government would implement corrective measures. House Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania also highlighted the need for caution, emphasizing that while water bodies may look inviting, they can be very dangerous.
