Two students face visa issues after protests at Columbia

A Palestinian student, Leqaa Kordia, was arrested by ICE for overstaying her student visa after participating in pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University. Her visa had been terminated in January 2022 due to lack of attendance. Another student, Ranjani Srinivasan, had her visa revoked for advocating violence and terrorism. She chose to self-deport after her visa was canceled on March 5. These arrests follow the detention of Mahmoud Khalil, a pro-Palestinian activist facing deportation. A federal judge has temporarily halted his deportation, citing concerns over his treatment and lack of communication with his lawyers.
