Two suspects jailed in Mohali cryptocurrency scam
Two men accused of a significant cryptocurrency scam in Mohali have been sent to police custody for four days. The suspects are Mohan Singh, who was brought from Patiala jail, and Ashwani, who was recently arrested in Kurali. They are part of a larger group of four people involved in the case. The scam, which reportedly involved around Rs 12 crore, was carried out through a company called Coin Crypto Currency. The suspects promised investors that their money would double in 25 months. However, when the scheme was terminated, the company did not return any of the invested funds. The fraud came to light when Sahil Verma, a complainant from Nayagaon, reported that he had invested Rs 18.60 lakh and convinced friends to invest an additional Rs 2 lakh. Police say the accused swindled investors from various regions, including Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and even from abroad. Mohan Singh, who is considered the main suspect, is a former Punjab Police officer. After leaving the force, he established a different firm, Harsukh Study Visa and Immigration, to manage the scam's financial activities. Two other suspects, Arman Singh and Inderdeep Singh, are still on the run.
