Two teenagers drowned in Ulhas river while swimming

Two teenagers tragically drowned in the Ulhas river near the Vasat dam on Saturday evening. The accident happened near Shantisagar Resort, where a group of friends was enjoying a picnic. While swimming, two young men were swept away by the current. The victims were identified as 18-year-old Vivek Tiwari and 17-year-old Vinayak Shah. Both boys were from Hiranandani in Powai. After the incident, the Ambernath fire brigade conducted a search operation and recovered their bodies after several hours. A fire brigade officer explained that the riverbed is uneven, making it hard to judge the water's depth. This caused the two friends to miscalculate the danger, resulting in their drowning. This incident is not isolated. Last week, four Class 10 students also drowned in the Ulhas river while trying to wash off Holi colors. Several recent drowning incidents have raised alarm. Despite ongoing warnings, people continue to risk their safety near deep water. Authorities are urging the public to be more cautious, as negligence can quickly lead to tragedy.
