Two wildfires ignite in Jewell Wetlands Park, Aurora
Aurora firefighters are tackling two wildfires that broke out in Jewell Wetlands Park on Monday afternoon. The first fire was reported around 3:26 p.m. It was about 2 acres in size and located along South Potomac Street. Fire officials stated that there were no immediate threats to buildings and no injuries reported. However, smoke was visible in the area. A video from the fire department showed large flames engulfing trees in the park. The second wildfire started around 3:45 p.m. in a nearby open space near South Kewaunee Street, also covering about 2 acres. By 4:15 p.m., firefighters had stopped the spread of both fires.
