Two women arrested with 15 kg ganja at Kochi
Customs officials at Kochi airport arrested two women on Wednesday after finding 15 kilograms of suspected hybrid ganja, valued at about ₹4.50 crore. The women are Manvi Chaudhari, a model from Jaipur, and Chhibbet Swanti, a makeup artist from Delhi. They were detained when they arrived on a Thai Airways flight from Bangkok late Tuesday night. This seizure marks the second time in less than two weeks that authorities have intercepted hybrid ganja at the same airport. On March 8, Customs arrested two women from Mumbai with 1.5 kilograms of the drug, valued at around ₹44 lakh, also arriving from Bangkok. In a separate case earlier this year, a man was arrested for smuggling over a kilogram of hybrid ganja worth more than ₹1 crore through the International Post Office in Kochi. This shipment had originated in Thailand and was sent to an unknown person. After thorough investigations, Customs officials were able to track down the recipient. A dummy parcel was sent to the suspect, leading Customs to his address. Following a search of his home, officers discovered about 30 grams of hydroponic weed and 50 grams of ganja.
