Typhoon Nika nears Ifugao and may weaken into storm by evening
Typhoon Nika, also known as Toraji, is currently near Lagawe in Ifugao province, moving northwest at 25 kilometers per hour. It has maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour and gusts up to 215 kilometers per hour. The Philippine weather agency, Pagasa, reports that Nika is expected to weaken into a severe tropical storm as it crosses Luzon and moves over the sea west of Ilocos Sur by late afternoon or evening. Nika is projected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Tuesday morning, November 13. Another tropical depression is anticipated to enter the area later this week and may develop into a typhoon.
