Typhoon Ofel approaches super typhoon status as Cagayan faces severe weather warnings

Typhoon Ofel, also known as Usagi, is nearing super typhoon status, with maximum sustained winds of 165 kilometers per hour. It is currently located 215 kilometers east of Echague, Isabela, and moving northwest at 30 kph. The Philippine weather agency has raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 4 in northeastern Cagayan, indicating potential typhoon-force winds. Signals No. 3, No. 2, and No. 1 have also been issued in various areas, warning of varying wind threats. Ofel is expected to make landfall along the eastern coast of Cagayan or northern Isabela later today. After landfall, it will continue to move northwest and may pass near the Babuyan Islands before shifting its path toward the waters west of Batanes.
