Typhoon Ofel weakens as it nears Babuyan Islands in the Philippines
Typhoon Ofel is weakening as it approaches the Babuyan Islands, with maximum sustained winds decreasing from 165 kilometers per hour to 155 kph. Gustiness has also dropped from 275 kph to 255 kph. As of Thursday night, Ofel is located over the coastal waters of Santa Teresita, Cagayan. It is expected to pass close to the Babuyan Islands before turning northward towards Taiwan. The highest wind warning, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 4, is in effect for areas facing significant threats to life and property. Other areas are under lower warning levels, indicating varying degrees of risk.
