Typhoon Toraji strikes Philippines as fourth storm in a month prompts evacuations
Typhoon Toraji struck the Philippines on Monday, marking the fourth typhoon to hit the country in less than a month. The storm made landfall near Dilasag, causing strong winds and heavy rain, leading to power outages and downed trees. Around 7,000 people were evacuated from coastal and vulnerable areas in Aurora and Isabela provinces. The government ordered evacuations in 2,500 villages, while nearly 700 passengers were stranded at ports due to unsafe sea conditions. Officials reported significant damage, including blocked roads from fallen trees and power lines. The national weather agency warned of severe weather, including heavy rainfall and a risk of storm surges along the northern coast.
