Typhoon Toraji strikes Philippines as thousands evacuate from vulnerable areas
Typhoon Toraji struck the Philippines on Monday, marking the fourth typhoon to hit the country in less than a month. The storm made landfall near Dilasag, bringing strong winds of 130 kilometers per hour and heavy rain, prompting evacuations. Around 7,000 people were moved from vulnerable areas in Aurora and Isabela provinces. Schools and government offices were closed, and nearly 700 passengers were stranded at ports due to unsafe sea conditions. Officials reported downed trees and power lines blocking roads. The typhoon is expected to move out to the South China Sea later on Monday, but another tropical depression may follow later this week.
