Typhoon Toraji strikes Philippines prompting evacuations and recovery efforts

Typhoon Toraji has struck the Philippines, causing heavy rain and strong winds in the northeast. This is the fourth typhoon to hit the country in less than a month, prompting the evacuation of around 7,000 people from vulnerable areas. The storm made landfall near Dilasag, about 220 kilometers northeast of Manila. Local officials reported downed trees and power outages, with schools and government offices closed in affected regions. The national weather agency warned of severe weather conditions, including intense rainfall and a risk of storm surges. The typhoon is expected to move out to the South China Sea later today.
