Typhoon Usagi weakens over Philippines as Taiwan prepares for severe weather
Typhoon Usagi has weakened over the Philippines but is still expected to bring damaging winds to Taiwan. The storm, with winds of 132 mph, may cause flash flooding in low-lying areas. Usagi, known as Ofel in the Philippines, is moving towards Luzon and is forecast to make landfall on Camiguin Island. It will approach Taiwan's Pingtung county on Friday before moving towards Japan's Miyako Islands. Philippine authorities have evacuated areas in Cordillera, Ilocos, and Cagayan Valley due to the storm. This month, four storms are simultaneously active in the Western Pacific, a rare occurrence since records began in 1951.
