UAB and Dayton advance in NIT tournament
The 2025 NIT tournament is heating up, with exciting games on Day 2. UAB pulled off a big upset, beating No. 3 seed Saint Joseph's 69-65. Yaxel Lendeborg was a star, scoring 16 points and grabbing 17 rebounds. UAB will now face No. 2 seed Santa Clara, which won its first game 101-62 against UC Riverside. In another game, No. 1 seed Dayton beat Florida Atlantic 86-79. Dayton's guard, Javon Bennett, had an impressive night, scoring 30 points. The Flyers will play Chattanooga next, which reached the second round after a thrilling triple-overtime win over No. 4 seed Middle Tennessee. Later today, No. 1 seed SMU plays Northern Iowa, while UC Irvine faces Northern Colorado. SMU just missed out on the NCAA tournament this year. Fans are looking forward to more exciting basketball as nine more spots in the second round are up for grabs. The tournament schedule continues through March with the semifinals on April 1 and the championship game on April 3, both taking place at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
