Ubisoft announces new modern-day storyline for Assassin's Creed Shadows
Ubisoft announced that the upcoming game, Assassin's Creed Shadows, will feature a new modern-day storyline that contrasts with its historical narratives. This shift aims to make the contemporary plot more integral to the overall experience. Previously, modern-day storylines in the series were often sidelined. Ubisoft's Marc-Alexis Coté stated that the new approach will enhance the historical journey and explore themes of memory, identity, and autonomy. Assassin's Creed Shadows, set in 16th century Japan, will feature dual protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe. The game has been delayed to February 14, 2025, following criticism of its pricing and backlash regarding one of its characters.
