UCLA women’s basketball team secures No. 1 seed
UCLA's women's basketball team is making history as the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament for the first time. A significant contributor to their success is junior center Lauren Betts. She is averaging nearly 20 points and 10 rebounds per game. The Bruins finished the regular season with just two losses. Betts, who transferred from Stanford, sees her achievement as a chance to inspire tall women. She believes they should embrace their height and showcase their physicality. "As tall women, I think it’s just really amazing to find the beauty in our height," she said. The women’s basketball scene is gaining more attention, with increasing viewership and attendance. Betts is part of a new generation of players who follow in the footsteps of other great athletes. She admires tall players who are confident and promote themselves on social media. She also mentioned other players to watch during this tournament, including Paige Bueckers and MiLaysia Fulwiley. Betts expects a strong performance from her team, predicting they will come out on top, along with competition from teams like UConn and South Carolina. UCLA will start its tournament journey by playing against Southern on Friday, March 21, at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN.
