UConn School of Medicine celebrates record Match Day

On March 21, the UConn School of Medicine celebrated its largest Match Day ever. A total of 111 medical students revealed the residency programs they will join after completing their studies. Dr. Marilyn Katz, an Assistant Dean at the school, expressed excitement over the moment. She noted that this year's Match Day was particularly significant. Among the students, 24 will continue their training at UConn, while a third are going into Primary Care. Dean Dr. Bruce T. Liang congratulated the students on their achievements. He remarked that all their hard work has paid off during this thrilling time. Future Dr. Ireoluwatomiwa Opayemi shared his joy at the event, emphasizing that this experience is about everyone involved. He described his passion for Internal Medicine and his eagerness to help patients. Another student, future Dr. Lily Zhong, expressed gratitude to those who supported her journey. She looks forward to what lies ahead for her and her classmates, particularly in Internal Medicine, which allows her to form lasting relationships with patients.
