UDF boycotts Kerala Assembly over LDF interruptions

Members of the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala's Assembly walked out during a session on Thursday. They were protesting against frequent interruptions by members of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) during discussions, including a speech by Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan. Before the ministers began their replies, Satheesan announced the boycott to Speaker A.N. Shamseer. He accused LDF members of disrupting UDF's discussion on important issues, specifically those related to anganwadi workers. Satheesan stated that UDF members left to show support for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) protesting outside the Assembly. Despite the UDF's concerns, Speaker Shamseer urged them to stay, emphasizing the significance of the topics under discussion. Minister for Water Resources Roshy Augustine criticized the UDF's decision to leave. He noted that ministers continued their replies without the opposition present. The day's discussions focused on key issues such as water supply, sanitation, and welfare for marginalized communities.
