Ujjain-Garoth highway project nearing completion, improving connectivity
The Ujjain-Garoth four-lane highway project is nearly finished, with 90% of the work complete. The project aims to improve travel times and connectivity for residents and travelers. It connects Ujjain with major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Vadodara. The highway will allow vehicles to travel at speeds over 100 km/h, which will also help reduce fuel consumption. The remaining work involves building a railway overbridge and completing minor tasks. This is expected to be done in the next three months. The project has a budget of Rs 2,660 crore and spans 160 kilometers. It will create a direct connection to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, enhancing regional connectivity. The last part of the road, from Ujjain to Kheda Khajuria, is still under construction, with the railway overbridge being a key element. Construction began in November 2022, supervised by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). To speed up the project, three companies were assigned different sections. While two companies have finished their work, one faced delays due to land acquisition issues. Despite the setbacks, progress is being made, and authorities are optimistic the project will be completed soon. Originally set to finish in July 2024, the timeline has been extended by 207 days. Once completed, the Ujjain-Garoth four-lane highway will enhance infrastructure and support economic growth in the region.
