UK agritech companies visit India for collaboration opportunities

Five UK agritech companies participated in a collaborative program with India from March 17 to 21. This event was part of the UK-India Agri-Tech Accelerator Programme. It aimed to enhance research and development, investment, and market access for advanced agricultural technologies. The participating companies included Mutus Tech, LinearWorks, Green Crop Tech, AgriSound, and LettUs Grow. These companies use various cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to address issues like pest management and plant health. They also promote eco-friendly practices. The programme was led by the UK Agri-Tech Centre and the UK government. It focuses on identifying challenges in India's agriculture sector while creating opportunities for collaboration. Officials believe this will help UK businesses better engage with India's agri-tech industry. British Deputy High Commissioner Gareth Wynn Owen emphasized the strength of the partnership between the UK and India. He noted that the programme promotes innovation and set the stage for beneficial commercial partnerships. Himanshu Pathak, Director-General of the International Crops Research Institute, supported the collaboration. He said the programme aligns with India's goals of improving agricultural technologies for vulnerable communities. Overall, the visit aimed to help build partnerships that will benefit both farmers and agritech businesses in the UK and India.
