UK and France likely to allow Ukraine to use Storm Shadow missiles against Russia
Following U.S. President Joe Biden's approval for Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles against targets in Russia, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron are expected to allow Ukraine to use Storm Shadow missiles for similar strikes. The Storm Shadow missile, developed by the UK and France, relies on U.S. guidance systems, making Biden's approval necessary for its use against Russian targets. Currently, Ukraine can only deploy Storm Shadow missiles within its own borders. Biden's earlier refusal to permit strikes inside Russia changed after reports of North Korean soldiers joining the conflict. This shift has prompted discussions among European leaders about expanding military support for Ukraine, including potential permissions for German Taurus missiles.
