UK arranges charter flight for nationals to leave Lebanon as violence escalates
The UK government has arranged a charter flight for British nationals and their families to leave Lebanon amid escalating violence. The flight will depart from Beirut on Wednesday, with vulnerable individuals prioritized. Each passenger will pay a fee of £350. Previously, British nationals were advised to book commercial flights, but options were limited due to cancellations. The UK Ministry of Defence has deployed nearly 700 troops to Cyprus to assist with potential evacuations. The situation in Lebanon has worsened, with over 1,000 reported deaths in recent weeks. Tensions have increased following the conflict between Israel and Hamas, which began last October.
