UK billionaires' wealth rises by £35 million daily in 2024, Oxfam reports

Oxfam reported that the total wealth of UK billionaires rose by £35 million per day in 2024, reaching £182 billion. This increase is significant, with four new billionaires added to the UK's total of 57. Globally, billionaire wealth grew by $2 trillion last year, averaging $5.7 billion per day. Oxfam noted that 44% of the world's population lives on less than $6.85 daily, highlighting stark economic inequality. The charity called for higher taxes on the wealthy and a new global tax convention to ensure fair contributions from billionaires and corporations. Oxfam's findings were released during the World Economic Forum in Davos.
