UK energy bills to rise 6.4% in April
UK energy bills will rise by 6.4% starting April 1, increasing the average annual bill by £111 to £1,849. This marks the third increase in recent months, following rises of 10% in October and 1.2% in January. Around 22 million customers will be affected, with the exact amount depending on individual energy usage. The price cap sets maximum charges for gas and electricity but does not limit total bills. Households are encouraged to explore fixed-rate deals, which may offer savings compared to the new price cap. Ofgem's price cap will be reviewed again on June 30.
