UK energy firm Ripple Energy Ltd. nears insolvency
A UK energy company called Ripple Energy Ltd. is facing financial trouble and has entered administration. This news was shared with customers in an email from the company's founder, Sarah Merrick. Ripple Energy allowed people to invest in solar and wind farms. In return, customers could receive discounts on their electricity bills. The company worked with suppliers like British Gas, E.ON Next, and Good Energy to sell electricity from these renewable energy projects. In the email, Merrick did not explain why the company is in this situation. This announcement comes shortly after it was revealed that there was an investigation into the financial accounts for a wind farm in Scotland. The company's Chief Financial Officer, William Dodd, resigned earlier this month. Despite the company's difficulties, operations at the Kirk Hill wind farm in Scotland and the Graig Fatha wind farm in Wales will continue as usual. Ripple's administrators are currently in talks to manage the transition of these projects with the cooperatives involved. Merrick had previously mentioned that the company was dealing with ongoing issues regarding the accounts for one of its wind farms. Independent advisers have been brought in to investigate and resolve these issues.
