UK energy prices rising; air fryer costs £98.55
Using air fryers is becoming more popular for cooking meals, but the cost of operating them is set to increase significantly. Starting April 1, the UK's energy cap will rise by 6.4%, affecting household energy bills. Households will pay an average of £98.55 per year to operate an air fryer. In comparison, running an oven will cost about £248.20 annually. The new energy price cap will cost all households £1,849 each year for energy consumption. Energy experts offer tips to lower these rising costs. Nicholas Auckland suggests using an air fryer instead of an oven, as it is cheaper to use. Elise Melville from Uswitch advises monitoring energy usage through the app, which can help save money on bills. To further cut costs, experts recommend turning down heating by one degree, switching off appliances and lights when not in use, installing a smart meter, and considering a different energy supplier for better deals. They also suggest line drying clothes in good weather instead of using a tumble dryer. The next energy price cap will be announced in May, and it adjusts every three months based on wholesale costs. The current increase is linked to rising gas prices in Europe due to low storage levels.
