UK police investigate Rwandan genocide suspects living in the country
Detectives in the UK are investigating Rwandans for possible genocide charges related to the 1994 massacre of 800,000 people. Scotland Yard's War Crimes Team has submitted evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service regarding one of five suspects. The suspects, living in various UK locations, were previously arrested in 2013 but denied extradition. Police have conducted interviews and gathered witness statements over a six-year investigation. Recent developments include a sixth suspect arrested in Gateshead in January. The Rwandan High Commissioner expressed support for the investigation, emphasizing the need for timely justice after three decades.
