Ukraine endures week of heavy Russian attacks as military aid and sanctions increase
Ukraine has faced a week of intense attacks from Russia, including over 800 aerial bombs and 460 strike drones. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that air defense forces shot down nearly 50 drones in one night, amid ongoing air raid alerts. In response to Russia's increased aggression, including the use of a nuclear-capable missile, Zelenskyy called for more air defense systems. The U.S. announced a new military aid package worth $275 million, which includes drones and ammunition. The Biden Administration also imposed new sanctions on Russian financial institutions following the missile launch. Emergency talks between Ukraine and NATO leaders are scheduled for Tuesday to address the escalating situation.
