Ukraine launches longer-range missiles into Russia for first time in nearly three years
Ukraine has launched six American-supplied longer-range missiles at Russia's Bryansk region, marking its first use of these weapons on Russian soil in nearly three years. This escalation comes amid heightened tensions as Russia lowers its nuclear response threshold. The missiles, reportedly from the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS), targeted a military depot in Bryansk. Russia claims to have intercepted five of the missiles, with debris causing a fire at a military facility but no reported casualties. In Ukraine, recent Russian strikes have killed at least 12 people, including a child, in residential areas. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the need for a strong military response to Russia's ongoing attacks and outlined plans to increase domestic military production.
