Ukraine launches US-made long-range missiles into Russia for first time
Ukraine has launched US-supplied long-range ATACMS missiles into Russia for the first time, targeting an arms depot in the Bryansk region. This follows a change in Russia's nuclear doctrine, which now considers attacks with Western weapons as grounds for a potential nuclear response. Moscow claims to have intercepted five of the six missiles fired by Ukraine. The Russian defense ministry reported that debris from the intercepted missiles caused a fire but no damage or casualties occurred. The missile strikes coincide with Ukraine marking 1,000 days of conflict. In response to the escalating situation, Ukraine's President Zelensky is seeking support for longer-range strikes from allies, particularly Germany. Meanwhile, Russia has intensified its military actions, with recent strikes in Ukraine resulting in civilian casualties.
