Ukraine reports first clashes with North Korean troops in ongoing conflict
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the first clashes between Ukrainian forces and North Korean troops, marking a new development in the ongoing conflict since Russia's invasion in 2022. Defence Minister Rustem Umerov confirmed a "small engagement" occurred. More than 10,000 North Korean soldiers have reportedly arrived in Russia, with many stationed near the frontline. Umerov noted that the engagement was not systematic and that identification of North Korean troops is complicated by Russian attempts to disguise them. Russia has not officially acknowledged the presence of North Korean troops. President Putin stated that it is up to Russia to manage its defense pact with North Korea.
