Ukraine reports first clashes with North Korean troops near border
Ukraine has reported its first clashes with North Korean troops, according to Defence Minister Rustem Umerov. He stated that a "small group" of North Korean soldiers was attacked in the Kursk border region, where an estimated 11,000 North Korean troops are present. Umerov noted that these troops are currently undergoing training and are wearing Russian uniforms. He mentioned that while there have been small contacts, full-scale engagement has not yet occurred. North Korean soldiers are reportedly being integrated into Russian military operations. In response to the situation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the involvement of North Korean troops and called for global efforts to counter this development. Meanwhile, South Korea has expressed concern and summoned Russia's ambassador, seeking the withdrawal of North Korean forces.
