Ukraine reports Russia deploys 50,000 troops to Kursk to counter offensive
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Russia has deployed about 50,000 troops to the Kursk region to counter Ukraine's offensive. This is a significant increase from the estimated 11,000 troops previously stationed there. Zelenskyy suggested that Russia has withdrawn troops from other areas to reinforce Kursk. However, a recent investigation indicated that Russia is utilizing North Korean soldiers instead of reallocating its forces. The European Union's foreign policy chief nominee, Kaja Kallas, affirmed ongoing support for Ukraine, emphasizing the need for a clear path for Ukraine's EU membership. Meanwhile, Ukraine has intensified drone attacks on Russian military targets, including a recent strike on a tank depot in Belgorod.
