Ukraine reports Russia launches intercontinental ballistic missile at Dnipro
Ukraine's Air Force reported that Russia launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) at Dnipro, marking a significant escalation in the conflict. This would be the first use of an ICBM in combat since the Cold War. The missile was fired from Astrakhan, approximately 1,000 kilometers away. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy described it as a "new" weapon, indicating a shift in Russia's military strategy amid ongoing hostilities. In response to the missile launch, oil, gold, and wheat prices rose. The U.S. and European embassies in Kyiv temporarily closed due to fears of further attacks, while half of Dnipropetrovsk's power consumers lost electricity after the strike.
