Ukraine reports Russia launches intercontinental ballistic missile in attack on Dnipro
Ukraine has accused Russia of using an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) in an overnight attack, marking a potential first in the conflict. A Western official disputed this, stating it was a ballistic missile but not an ICBM. The missile reportedly targeted the eastern city of Dnipro, launched from the Caspian Sea region. The Ukrainian air force noted that Russia also used various other missiles in the attack, with some intercepted by Ukrainian forces. This development follows Ukraine's recent use of long-range U.S. missiles against Russian targets. It comes amid heightened tensions, as President Putin recently updated Russia's nuclear doctrine, allowing for a nuclear response if attacked by a non-nuclear country backed by a nuclear state.
