Ukraine seeks 8 million migrants to address labor shortage
Business leaders in Ukraine are advocating for the immigration of up to eight million non-Western migrants to address a demographic crisis caused by the ongoing war with Russia. They cite estimates from international organizations indicating a significant need for workers. Vasily Voskoboinik, head of the All-Ukrainian Association of Companies for International Employment, emphasized the urgency of labor migration, suggesting that encouraging local births would take too long to impact the labor market. He proposes sourcing migrants from countries like Bangladesh and India. This call for mass migration marks a shift in Ukraine's approach to rebuilding its workforce. If implemented, these migrants could make up about 17.5 percent of Ukraine's population.
