Ulcer patients should have regular check-ups during Ramazan
Patients with stomach issues, such as ulcers, acidity, or dyspepsia, need to monitor their health closely during the holy month of Ramazan. Health experts recommend regular check-ups for these individuals, especially after the middle of Ramazan when complications can arise. Chronic ulcer sufferers should have a full medical examination at least once before and once during their fasting. They are at risk of serious complications like bleeding or a recurrence of their condition. Research led by Dr. Muhammad Shoaib Shafi indicates that patients with severe ulcers who fast without proper medication may face serious issues. According to the study, complications often occur after the 20th of Ramazan. It was noted that smokers with ulcers have a much higher risk of bleeding compared to non-smokers. Experts advise that ulcer patients should avoid smoking and instead eat plenty of fruits and lemons while fasting. Peptic ulcers are caused by damage to the stomach lining and can worsen due to excess stomach acid, stress, or the use of certain medications. These ulcers can cause pain and can lead to serious conditions like bleeding if not managed properly. Doctors emphasize that ulcers may result in serious complications for fasting patients who do not maintain a proper diet or follow their medication plan. Ulcer patients should talk to their doctors about adjusting their medication schedule during Ramazan to prevent issues. Experts further advise that patients should avoid oily foods while fasting. If they experience ulcer symptoms, it is critical to consult a doctor. Fasting can lead to increased acidity and pain for these individuals. In severe cases, it can even cause dangerous gastrointestinal bleeding, especially in older adults.
