Ulhasnagar engineer suspended for negligence and incompetence
Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Manisha Awhale has suspended former City Engineer Tarun Sevkani for negligence. He failed to respond to multiple departmental notices during his time in office. Despite several warnings about issues in his work, Sevkani did not make satisfactory corrections, which led to his suspension. Sevkani was recently demoted back to his original position as Junior Engineer before the suspension was finalized on Friday. This action has raised concerns among other civic officials who have also been negligent in their duties. The suspension order required Sevkani to submit a report on departmental work over the last three years. The Commissioner had previously asked for explanations regarding projects that were not started or canceled, even after tenders had been issued. During a recent inspection, a committee found several flaws in Sevkani's work at Prabhat Garden, which resulted in revenue losses for the Municipal Corporation. Since taking office, Awhale has prioritized quality work and timely project completion. Sevkani's suspension reflects her commitment to these standards. Reports indicate that other department heads are also under scrutiny, and additional disciplinary actions may follow.
