Ulverston plans over 350 new homes approved
Plans for two housing developments are set to be approved by Westmorland and Furness Council. The developments will create over 350 homes, with 266 at Nook Farm and 111 at West End Farm in Ulverston. The proposal for Nook Farm was revised from an original plan for 330 homes. This change came after concerns about flood risks were addressed. The plans include 93 affordable homes, with some available for social rent. Council discussions will take place next Thursday at Kendal Town Hall. Ulverston Town Council has expressed objections, citing worries about flooding and over-development. However, planning officers believe these concerns do not affect the approval of the application. The council's report noted that past flooding issues were mainly due to water runoff from nearby land. The proposed designs aim to create attractive streets while ensuring adequate measures against flooding. In addition to Nook Farm, there are plans for 111 homes at West End Farm. This development will include 38 affordable housing units near the Ulverston Leisure Centre. Local residents have also objected to this proposal, but officials believe the plans will not adversely affect the area's appearance.
