UN chief condemns Sudan's RSF as Britain seeks Security Council resolution
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned attacks on civilians by Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) amid ongoing conflict. Britain plans to introduce a U.N. Security Council resolution to address the situation, which has led to significant displacement and violence.
The RSF has been accused of killing at least 124 people in El Gezira State last month. Guterres highlighted serious violations of humanitarian law, including killings, detentions, and sexual violence against women and girls.
Britain will lead discussions on Sudan at the Security Council on November 12, focusing on aid delivery and civilian protection. A resolution will aim to ensure compliance with commitments made by warring parties regarding civilian safety.
