UN reports execution of Ukrainian children by Russia
A new United Nations report reveals serious human rights violations against children in Ukraine since Russia's invasion in 2022. It states that millions of Ukrainian children have suffered greatly. UN Human Rights Chief Volker Turk emphasized that their rights have been severely undermined. The report highlights specific atrocities in four regions that Russia illegally annexed. These violations include executions, detention, sexual violence, and torture. It details the execution of five boys and two girls in the past two years. The report calls these acts war crimes and serious breaches of the Geneva Conventions. Additionally, some Ukrainian children have been compelled to participate in military training. This includes singing the Russian anthem and studying under the Russian school curriculum. Such actions go against international humanitarian law. The Russian mission in Geneva has not responded to requests for comment.
