UN urged to combat technofeudalism and inequalities
V.D. Satheesan, the Opposition leader, spoke at a model UN assembly at the University of Kerala. He urged the UN to take a proactive stance against technofeudalism, which he says increases economic disparities due to control by developed nations over technology and data. Satheesan warned about the risks of Artificial Intelligence in this context and drew parallels between today's political climate and the colonial era. He noted that financial colonialism continues, with advanced capitalist nations exerting control over former colonies. The Vice-Chancellor, Mohanan Kunnummal, highlighted India's achievements in medicine and vaccines but pointed out that the UN Security Council does not reflect India's growing global role. He called for India to receive a permanent seat on the Council.
