UNICEF report warns of rising climate risks for children by 2050
A new UNICEF report warns that by the 2050s, eight times more children will face extreme heatwaves and three times as many will experience river floods compared to the 2000s if climate change continues unchecked. The report highlights that nearly double the number of children will be affected by wildfires, droughts, and tropical cyclones, with the most significant impacts expected in Asia and Africa. Additionally, the report notes that nearly 1 billion children live in high-risk areas for environmental disasters, which threaten their health, education, and well-being. The findings emphasize the urgent need for action on climate change to protect future generations.
