Union County scholarships for free summer theater camp

Union County will offer free scholarships for a summer theater camp aimed at young performers. Applications are now open and must be submitted by Monday, April 14. The program will be held in partnership with the Union County Performing Arts Center and Theatrical Artist’s Prep. This year, the camp will focus on "Beetlejuice Jr." It is designed for two age groups: children aged 8 to 12 and teens aged 13 to 18. Union County Chairwoman Lourdes M. Leon praised the scholarship program, saying it helps foster creativity and confidence in young people. She believes the camp will provide a valuable opportunity for children to develop their talents. The scholarships cover all costs, ensuring that children from all backgrounds can participate. Participants will learn acting, singing, and dancing from industry professionals, fostering teamwork and self-assurance. Commissioner Sergio Granados highlighted the program's success in previous years. He noted the importance of making the arts accessible to everyone.
