United Airlines settles discrimination case for $99,000 after employee reports assault and slurs
United Airlines will pay $99,000 to settle a federal discrimination case involving an Asian American employee who reported being called an anti-Asian slur and physically assaulted by a supervisor during the pandemic. The employee, Alsunbayar Davaabat, resigned after the airline did not take immediate action following the incident. United Airlines stated the manager was removed from the workplace after an investigation. As part of the settlement, United will provide Davaabat with 75,000 flight miles and review its equal employment opportunity policies. The airline will also change its workplace violence policy to ensure timely investigations of such complaints.
