Unleashed dogs attack woman in Powai, Mumbai
A woman in Powai, Mumbai, had surgery after being attacked by two unleashed dogs. The incident occurred on Saturday morning when Richa Kaushik-Arora, 37, was walking to another building for renovation work. The dogs, a pitbull and a Doberman, belong to a couple who are currently traveling abroad. The Powai police have filed a complaint against the dogs' owner, Divyesh Virk, along with his driver and domestic help. They face charges of negligent conduct regarding their animals. The police stated that the case could result in six months of imprisonment if they are found guilty. Richa's husband, Sanchit, a former defense personnel, has also contacted the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) about the lack of safety measures taken by Virk before leaving. He described the attack, saying both dogs jumped out of the car and lunged at his wife. The pitbull caused significant injuries to her face and other parts of her body. Richa's father, Jitendra Sharma, rushed her to Hiranandani Hospital for treatment. She underwent nasal reconstruction surgery due to her injuries. The family is urging the BMC to take necessary action regarding the incident.
