Unrwa halts aid deliveries in Gaza after convoy attacked by armed gangs
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees, Unrwa, has halted aid deliveries through Gaza's main route after armed gangs attacked a convoy, looting food supplies. This comes amid a worsening food crisis due to ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Unrwa's head, Philippe Lazzarini, stated that safety concerns and the targeting of aid workers have led to this decision. He emphasized that Israel, as the occupying power, is responsible for ensuring the safe flow of aid into Gaza. In the past 24 hours, Israeli strikes have killed at least 32 people in Gaza. The conflict has resulted in significant casualties, with over 44,300 Palestinians and 1,200 Israelis reported dead since fighting began.
