Unseasonal rains damage mango crops in north Telangana

Unseasonal rains and hailstorms have raised concerns for mango growers in north Telangana. These weather events hit areas in Dharmapuri, Dharmaram, Thimmapur, and other parts of the former Karimnagar district. On March 21, light to moderate rains with hail affected regions in the Adilabad, Karimnagar, and Nizamabad districts. While the rain provided some relief from the heat, it also caused damage to mango orchards, especially in Jagtial district. Farmers are worried about their mango crops after the unexpected weather. The rains and winds have damaged mango flowers and young mangoes at a crucial time for the harvest. The sudden showers in Karimnagar town also led to brief power outages in some areas.
