The UP Board is preparing to evaluate over 3 crore answer sheets starting March 19. A rehearsal of the evaluation process took place on Monday, where around 1.5 lakh staff gathered at 261 centers across the state. They emphasized the need for attendance, warning that those absent without a valid reason would be replaced and face disciplinary action. UP Board secretary Bhagwati Singh mentioned that 1.5 lakh teachers will evaluate the answer sheets. They have set limits on the number of sheets each teacher can evaluate to ensure quality. Random checks by subject experts will also occur. Teachers who make mistakes may face severe penalties, including suspension and loss of pay. Strict guidelines are in place, including a ban on unauthorized visitors and mobile phones at evaluation centers. Director of Secondary Education Mahendra Dev outlined the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the teachers. Each center will have a deputy head examiner, and teams of 10-12 teachers will evaluate the sheets. Teachers will receive a maximum of 50 high school answer sheets and 45 intermediate sheets per day. The evaluation process is expected to continue until April 2. For the first time, the Board has arranged special transportation for teachers, staff, and police officers to safely move the answer sheets. The entire evaluation process will be monitored with 24/7 CCTV surveillance. The answer sheets are stored in secure areas to protect them from damage.
