U.P. governor calls for uplifting girls' education rights
Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel recently emphasized the importance of uplifting girls to achieve the goal of a "Viksit Bharat," or developed India. During a review of government schemes in Maharajganj, she stressed that real change occurs when welfare benefits reach underprivileged children. Patel highlighted the crucial role of Anganwadi workers in supporting early childhood care, education, and nutrition. She pointed out societal biases, noting that while some men may spend money on alcohol, they often neglect essential healthcare needs for girls, such as immunization. She called for a shift in mindset to eliminate discrimination against girls. The governor urged parents and communities to prioritize girls' education and protect their rights. She praised local officials for their efforts in supporting schools that promote holistic development and encouraged others to follow their example. During the event, Patel distributed supplementary nutrition kits, pre-school kits, and Ayushman Bharat cards to members of the Mushar community. She reiterated that the goals of the "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" initiative can only be achieved when girls are nurtured and empowered through education and skill development. Educating girls, she stated, will unlock their potential, create opportunities, and contribute to a stronger economy.
